Saints XC

Cross Country is a fall season sport with conditioning sessions and captain’s practices beginning in the middle of June and the official season beginning at the start of August. While cross country is a separate sport, most runners also participate in Track and Field as well.

Over the past 30 years, the team has accumulated ten League Championships, been CIF Runners-up four times in 71, 91, 93 and 2003, won seven CIF Championships in 92, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00, and 2005, and has placed in the top 10 at the State Meet 11 times. The program has produced such All-Americans as Paul Greer, Mark Hauser, Marco Anzures, Kyle Suarez, and Marine Corp Marathon Champion Sean Barrett.

In 2019, senior captains Joey Buzzella and Jack Klem guided the team to a third place CIF finish and state meet selection. Under the tutelage of Coach JC Gross, these two runners were also instrumental in helping the Track and Field team win a league championship in 2019 for the first time since 2005.

The 2022 team was led to an Eastern League Title by seniors Jimmy Markowicz and Nate Wilson. Jimmy and Nate also helped Track and Field team win back-to-back league championships in 2021, 2022 & 2023. Jimmy placed 3th at the Track and Field CIF Finals in the 1600 meters.

The 2023 team is led by Captains Thomas Banzhof '24 & Owen Arnaudy '25. The team is young but has already had a strong showing at their first race of the year placing 4th in Varsity at the Cool Breeze Invitational.
